Sandringham Yacht Club officials are pleased to invite all lovers of everything boating to the 2009 Club Marine Sail Boat Show, to be held at their brand new multi-million dollar clubhouse on the weekend of 14-15 November.
Apart from the stunning new Club, more exhibitors, a seafood festival, 100 nautical art displays, kids entertainment, live music and live cooking demonstrations are just some of the things expected to prompt even more people than ever to the annual Show.
A sail-only Show, one of only a handful in the country, and to be held at the Club on the Port Phillip waterfront where all things boating happen, this is expected to be one of the most talked about Boat Shows in years. The Club Marine Sail Boat Show will feature a new format and is one of the first major events to take place at the new Club, which was officially opened too much fanfare in October.
Set right on the waters-edge of Port Phillip, visitors will be able to step straight aboard yachts displayed on the Club’s easy-access floating marina and adults and children can also take advantage of the free “Go Sailing” on water experiences supervised by professional instructors. This is a prime opportunity for novices and beginners to “have a go” in a non-threatening atmosphere.
Whether you want to look at buying a yacht, keelboat or dinghy, sail cloth, insurance, winches, rigging, electronics, engines, paint, sailing gear and more, or look for a great boating holiday destination and charter boats, the Club Marine Sail Boat Show has it all.
Exhibits
Come and view the on-water, hardstand and off the beach display areas that will be transformed to accommodate more than 100 individual exhibitor displays from around the country. A full range of monohulls, keelboats, dinghies, catamarans, trailable yachts and more will be on display.
Boat Show Alley - In the undercroft of the new clubhouse view trade displays including the latest designs and technical advances such as air conditioning and fridges, engines, life jackets, masts and spars, paint, propellers, ropes and rigging, sails, sailing instruments, toilets, pumps, winches and lots more.
Go Sailing
It’s free! Always popular and at no cost, the Club Marine SYC Boating Academy is offering all show visitors the opportunity to go sailing - young and old - it’s never too early, or too late! Experienced and friendly staff will take you for your first sail.
Seafood Festival
You can’t afford to miss this. For the first time ever, cuisines representing four nations will be on offer at the Club Marine Sail Boat Show, where visitors can chill out and take in the views from the SYC’s new restaurant and deck. The views are spectacular – 360 degree views of Port Phillip. From Australia, succulent oysters from four regions served in four different styles and classic Aussie style fish and chips. Lovers of Japanese food will have a selection of sushi, sashimi and okonomiyaki. Those with a taste for Spain will enjoy such delights as seafood paella. Thai food lovers won’t miss out either; classics such as Tom Yum, Pad Thai and of course Thai fish cakes, will all be on offer. Bart Beek, the celebrated Club Marine chef, will give cooking demonstrations. Be there and enjoy the fruits of his labour.
